Hello Darlings,
I realized that with us working on rolling this site out to you guys I need to be real with myself on how often I expect to post here. For the moment it seems that my Scheduled days to work on the Corporate side of this venture are going to be Tuesdays and Wednesdays so you can expect a weekly update. I may post more if I feel called but I don't want to push myself to do more when I have so many other eggs up in the air trying to be juggled...and well no one wants egg on their face.
Now that I've laid that foundation...on to the blood and bones of what we've been up to here. Dustyn was able to get enough Beef Tallow that we should be able to use it in our next round of soaps. We've been using shae butter and pork tallow but we recently were in a position where we obtained enough that we can make a batch from it. That probably wont be until later this year and I'll be interested to see how that comes out in comparison to our others.
This Saturday we will be at the Ozark Empire Fair Grounds with The Moth Market and I was hoping to have my Mad Granny Painting done but I still have a lot of work left to do there. It has also come to my attention that a lot of people don't know who the figure at the top right is, which is something that breaks my heart. That Blue Bunny looking thing is Little Liam Ramos. He, along with his Father, were taken from Minneapolis to a detention center in Texas. I can't abide the way a certain department is treating people, US citizens and otherwise. Liam Ramos and his Father are not the 'worse of the worse' and they were going through the process 'the right way'. Being here illegally is a misdemeanor infraction and does not deserve the terror that I have witnessed.
Ancestor worship plays a big role in my faith practice and there is one whose been on my heart heavy recently. My Grandfather Virgil Marcum who fought in WWII as part of the Navy. He delivered our boys to the Beach at Normandy on D-Day. He would be appalled at how ChongLy "Scott" Thao, a US citizens, was marched through the street in his underwear in sub-freezing weather. He would be appalled that a VA Nurse was gunned down because he tried to protect a woman. And I'm sure he would see me and my three babies when he looked at Renee's picture.
So I'm channeling our emotions, his bravery, and our shared grief and anger into this painting and into all the other things I'm working on. Speaking of I'm working on crocheting a certain red hat that became popular during WWII in Norway. Its going to take all of us to stand up and speak out against the atrocities that are happening at home. Its easy to be complacent from the comfort of your living room until it's your door they're knocking in.
I will be remembered for standing on the right side of history. Its time the ants show our strength.
